The spiral submerged arc welded pipe is created from hot-rolled steel strip using continuous temperature spiral forming and automatic submerged arc welding. During the manufacturing process, the steel strip is rolled with the rolling direction set at a specific angle to the center direction of the tube, followed by forming and welding, resulting in a seamless and durable weld.
Submerged arc welding is a significant welding technique known for its inherent advantages, including stable welding quality, high productivity, minimal arc light, and reduced smoke emissions. These qualities make it an ideal choice for producing critical steel structures such as pressure vessels, pipe sections, box beams, and columns. Generally, SSAW spiral welded pipes exhibit higher strength compared to straight seam welded pipes. Moreover, larger diameter welded pipes can be manufactured from narrower billets, and billets of the same width can be used to produce welded pipes with varying diameters.
